ARCHITECTURE PROGRAMS
The Basics About a Grad Degree in Architecture

There are currently just under 5,000 students studying architecture in one of the 160 accredited architecture programs offered by US and Canadian universities. Students with 4-year professional architecture degrees are able to go on to a Master of Architecture degree (M.Arch). A Doctor of Architecture (D.Arch) degree is less common, but also available.

Graduate Architecture Degree Options
Master of Architecture - appropriate for those who want to develop advanced knowledge in one area of architecture.
PhD in Architecture - appropriate for those who want to earn an advanced degree in architecture with a view to pursuing a research or teaching career
Graduate Architecture Diplomas/Certificates - supplements an already established area of expertise in architecture or adds value to a previously earned Bachelor's or graduate degree in a different, but related discipline. Is designed to provide students with a specialized knowledge that is less extensive than a Master's or PhD in architecture


Areas of Graduate Architecture Specialization
Architectural design, architectural and planning technologies, interior architecture, landscape architecture, community and regional planning, housing, planning and design theory, sustainable design, urban design, and artistic preservation.
